Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Socks Seller by Louay Kayyali was sold in the International Modern and Contemporary Art auction at Christies in Dubai in October 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 100,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 80,500.00 (€ 63,475.79) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Louay Kayyali - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Cake (Kaak) Seller, which sold at auction in June 2020 for GBP 137,562.00 (€ 151,500.70).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Socks Seller von Louay Kayyali wurde im Oktober 2008 in der Auktion International Modern and Contemporary Art bei Christies in Dubai versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 80.500,00 (€ 63.475,79) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Louay Kayyali mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Cake (Kaak) Seller beobachtet, die im Juni 2020 für GBP 137.562,00 (€ 151.500,70) versteigert wurde.
