The work Portrait of the Wife and Daughter of the Governor of Louisiana by Lajos Márk was sold in the The House Sale auction at Christies in New York in April 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,120.00 (€ 2,284.04) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Portrait of the Wife and Daughter of the Governor of Louisiana is the most expensive artwork by Lajos Márk that we have observed at auctions so far.
