A top price for Louis Smets - as previously expected
The work Skaters on a frozen river by Louis Smets was sold in the 19C EUROPEAN ART auction at Christies in London in October 2000. The price achieved of GBP 12,925.00 (€ 22,092.52) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Skaters on a frozen river is the most expensive artwork by Louis Smets that we have observed at auctions so far.
