Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in armor by Louis Tocqué was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 30,000.00 (€ 22,983.22). Admittedly, works by Louis Tocqué have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Louis Philippe Joseph, Duc D'Orleans And Duc De Chartres in January 2012 with an auction result of USD 218,500.00 (€ 167,394.47).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in armor von Louis Tocqué im Januar 2012 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 30.000,00 (€ 22.983,22) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Louis Tocqué auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Of Louis Philippe Joseph, Duc D'Orleans And Duc De Chartres im Januar 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 218.500,00 (€ 167.394,47).
