Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Bamboo by Ma Shouhua was auctioned at Bonhams in Sydney in September this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 166.40 (€ 157.22). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ma Shouhua - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bamboo, 1973, which sold at auction in September this year for HKD 3,840.00 (€ 463.31).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Bamboo von Ma Shouhua im September diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Sydney versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 166,40 (€ 157,22) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Ma Shouhua mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bamboo, 1973 beobachtet, die im September diesen Jahres für HKD 3.840,00 (€ 463,31) versteigert wurde.
