Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Aboriginal Art, which included the work LUPULNGA, 2004 by Makinti Napanangka. It changed hands for a price of USD 5,670.00 (€ 4,636.14) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Makinti Napanangka - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in July 2009 for AUD 16,800.00 (€ 9,511.52).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Aboriginal Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit LUPULNGA, 2004 von Makinti Napanangka zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 5.670,00 (€ 4.636,14) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Makinti Napanangka mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im Juli 2009 für AUD 16.800,00 (€ 9.511,52) versteigert wurde.
