This artwork by Marcellus Coffermans achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2010. In the Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale auction, the work The Holy Family With An Angel, An Extensive Landscape Beyond sold for GBP 109,250.00 (€ 126,729.67) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 60,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Marcellus Coffermans; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A triptych: central panel: The Visitation; left wing: The Virgin Annunciate; right wing: The Angel of the Annunciation sold at auction in July 2003 with the realized price of GBP 128,450.00 (€ 167,892.81).
