Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Bottles And Grapes by Margaret Olley was sold in the AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS auction at Christies in Melbourne in May 2004. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 21,510.00 (€ 12,567.60) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Margaret Olley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hawkesbury Wildflowers and Pears I, 1973 in November 2021 with an auction result of AUD 159,900.00 (€ 141,667.40).
