Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Landscape, 1957 by Mark Tobey was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in April last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 19,125.00 (€ 18,150.33). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mark Tobey achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Autumnal Fire in June 2018 with an auction result of EUR 1,389,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Landscape, 1957 von Mark Tobey im April letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 19.125,00 (€ 18.150,33) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mark Tobey erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Autumnal Fire im Juni 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 1.389.000,00.
