Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Fishing Boats by Marshall Johnson was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,875.00 (€ 1,464.39). Admittedly, works by Marshall Johnson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calling for a pilot off a New England coast in February 2006 with an auction result of USD 12,000.00 (€ 10,062.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Fishing Boats von Marshall Johnson im Januar 2009 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.875,00 (€ 1.464,39) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Marshall Johnson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calling for a pilot off a New England coast im Februar 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.000,00 (€ 10.062,89).
