A top price for Martin Battersby - as previously expected
The work Trompe l'oeil (Sphinx) by Martin Battersby was sold in the Five Private Collections auction at Christies in London in July last year. The price achieved of GBP 4,410.00 (€ 5,266.32) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Trompe l'oeil (Sphinx) is the most expensive artwork by Martin Battersby that we have observed at auctions so far.

Die Arbeit Trompe l'oeil (Sphinx) von Martin Battersby wurde im Juli letzten Jahres in der Auktion Five Private Collections bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.410,00 (€ 5.266,32) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Trompe l'oeil (Sphinx) das teuerste Kunstwerk von Martin Battersby, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
