Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Choice Works, which included the work Lupus by Matthew Barney. The price achieved of USD 21,420.00 (€ 18,391.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthew Barney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Drawing Restraint 8: Condition 2003 in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 1,205,000.00 (€ 883,431.09).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Choice Works durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lupus von Matthew Barney zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 21.420,00 (€ 18.391,00) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 20.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthew Barney erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Drawing Restraint 8: Condition 2003 im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.205.000,00 (€ 883.431,09).
