This artwork by Maud Lewis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Toronto in May 2012. In the Important Canadian Art auction, the work Fishing Vessels, Nova Scotia sold for CAD 14,400.00 (€ 11,253.06) - well above the upper estimate of CAD 7,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Maud Lewis; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A View Of Sandy Cove sold at auction in November 2012 with the realized price of CAD 20,400.00 (€ 15,788.44).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Maud Lewis erzielte im Mai 2012 bei Sothebys in Toronto einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Canadian Art wurde die Arbeit Fishing Vessels, Nova Scotia für CAD 14.400,00 (€ 11.253,06) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von CAD 7.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Maud Lewis; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit A View Of Sandy Cove im November 2012 mit dem Hammerpreis von CAD 20.400,00 (€ 15.788,44).
