The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,750.00 (€ 10,009.91), 46% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Maurice Wilks - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Turf Gatherer, which sold at auction in March 2011 for GBP 24,375.00 (€ 27,580.20).

Die Arbeit North East Wind, Cushendun, Co.Antrim von Maurice Wilks wurde im Mai 2009 in der Auktion The Irish Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 8.750,00 (€ 10.009,91) und damit 46% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Maurice Wilks mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Turf Gatherer beobachtet, die im März 2011 für GBP 24.375,00 (€ 27.580,20) versteigert wurde.
