Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work La Pavlova by Max Jacob was auctioned at Bonhams in London in March 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 900.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at GBP 4,462.50 (€ 5,242.29). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Max Jacob - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Unknown, which sold at auction in April 2004 for EUR 18,800.00.
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit La Pavlova von Max Jacob im März 2021 bei Bonhams in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 900,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 4.462,50 (€ 5.242,29) mehr als viermal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Max Jacob mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Unknown beobachtet, die im April 2004 für EUR 18.800,00 versteigert wurde.
