Upper estimate price exceeded by 44%
In March 2007 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, which included the work The Structural Steel Worker by Max Kalish. The »bidding war« ended at USD 21,600 (€ 16,151), 44% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Max Kalish - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'Steelworker', which sold at auction in September 2010 for USD 50,000 (€ 36,762).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 44% übertroffen
Im März 2007 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Structural Steel Worker von Max Kalish zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 21.600 (€ 16.151) und damit 44% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Max Kalish mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 'Steelworker' beobachtet, die im September 2010 für USD 50.000 (€ 36.762) versteigert wurde.
