Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Boulder Valley by Maynard Dixon was sold in the American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture auction at Sothebys in New York in December 2011. The price achieved of USD 74,500.00 (€ 57,426.96) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maynard Dixon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Pony Boy in October 2000 with an auction result of USD 1,326,000.00 (€ 1,562,573.65).

Die Arbeit Boulder Valley von Maynard Dixon wurde im Dezember 2011 in der Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 74.500,00 (€ 57.426,96) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maynard Dixon erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Pony Boy im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.326.000,00 (€ 1.562.573,65).
