In November 2003 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work Head of a Young Woman by Michael Kmit. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 1,880.00 (€ 1,134.11), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Michael Kmit have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Totem, 1956 in September this year with an auction result of AUD 9,225.00 (€ 5,622.68).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im November 2003 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Head of a Young Woman von Michael Kmit zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 1.880,00 (€ 1.134,11) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Michael Kmit auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Totem, 1956 im September diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 9.225,00 (€ 5.622,68).
