Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Penitent Magdalene by Michele Rocca was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 40,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 15,000.00 (€ 12,878.85). Admittedly, works by Michele Rocca have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Rinaldo and Armida in May 2003 with an auction result of EUR 66,920.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Penitent Magdalene von Michele Rocca im Oktober 2020 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 15.000,00 (€ 12.878,85) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Michele Rocca auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Rinaldo and Armida im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 66.920,00.
