Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Ballerina), Circa 1950 by Morton Bartlett was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,625.00 (€ 5,192.95). Admittedly, works by Morton Bartlett have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (Doll) in January 2003 with an auction result of USD 35,850.00 (€ 33,383.00).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Ballerina), Circa 1950 von Morton Bartlett im Januar 2016 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.625,00 (€ 5.192,95) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Morton Bartlett auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (Doll) im Januar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 35.850,00 (€ 33.383,00).
