Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work Untitled (Doll's Clothes) by Morton Bartlett for USD 597.50 (€ 556.38). This price was achieved in the auction 20TH CENTURY SELF-TAUGHT AND OUTSIDER ART at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 900.00 – 1,200.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Morton Bartlett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Doll) in January 2003 with an auction result of USD 35,850.00 (€ 33,383.00).
