This artwork by Oliver Messel achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2020. In the Snowdon: A Life in Art and Objects auction, the work Costume design for Princess Aurora for the Royal Ballet production of 'Sleeping Beauty' sold for GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,583.65) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00. Admittedly, works by Oliver Messel have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Mrs William "Babe" Paley (1915-1978) in September 2020 with an auction result of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 26,188.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 81 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Oliver Messel erzielte im September 2020 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Snowdon: A Life in Art and Objects wurde die Arbeit Costume design for Princess Aurora for the Royal Ballet production of 'Sleeping Beauty' für GBP 3.250,00 (€ 3.583,65) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.800,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Oliver Messel auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Mrs William "Babe" Paley (1915-1978) im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 23.750,00 (€ 26.188,24).
