Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait of a young man playing a guitar by Oliver Messel for GBP 625.00 (€ 689.16). This price was achieved in the auction Snowdon: A Life in Art and Objects at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 2,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Oliver Messel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Mrs William "Babe" Paley (1915-1978) in September 2020 with an auction result of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 26,188.24).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im September 2020 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Portrait of a young man playing a guitar von Oliver Messel für GBP 625,00 (€ 689,16) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Snowdon: A Life in Art and Objects bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Oliver Messel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Mrs William "Babe" Paley (1915-1978) im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 23.750,00 (€ 26.188,24).
