Auction result well in line with expectations

The work View of London, with St. Paul's Cathedral by Oskar Kokoschka was sold in the IMPRESSIONIST & MODERN ART auction at Christies in London in February 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 201,750.00 (€ 316,093.98) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Oskar Kokoschka achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Joseph De Montesquiou-Fezensac in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 20,395,200.00 (€ 18,012,187.58).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Die Arbeit View of London, with St. Paul's Cathedral von Oskar Kokoschka wurde im Februar 2001 in der Auktion IMPRESSIONIST & MODERN ART bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 201.750,00 (€ 316.093,98) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Oskar Kokoschka erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Joseph De Montesquiou-Fezensac im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 20.395.200,00 (€ 18.012.187,58).
