Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%

This artwork by Patrick Caulfield achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in December last year. In the Sir Terence ConranThe Contents of Barton Court auction, the work 10 Chairs 'Designed' Blind each 19.5 x 14.5cm (7 11/16 x 5 11/16in) sold for GBP 7,650.00 (€ 8,636.10) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Patrick Caulfield achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Foyer in November 2016 with an auction result of GBP 665,000.00 (€ 784,634.62).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Patrick Caulfield erzielte im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Bonhams einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Sir Terence ConranThe Contents of Barton Court wurde die Arbeit 10 Chairs 'Designed' Blind each 19.5 x 14.5cm (7 11/16 x 5 11/16in) für GBP 7.650,00 (€ 8.636,10) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Patrick Caulfield erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Foyer im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 665.000,00 (€ 784.634,62).
