Artwork auctioned at 30 times the upper estimate price
When the work Untitled: Dream by Phyllida Barlow was auctioned at Bonhams in Hauser & Wirth in September last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 300.00 but the actual price achieved was more than 30 times as high at GBP 9,000.00 (€ 10,242.87). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Phyllida Barlow - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work untitled: hiddenupturnedhouse, which sold at auction in December last year for USD 30,240.00 (€ 28,266.97).
Kunstwerk zum 30-fachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Untitled: Dream von Phyllida Barlow im September letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Hauser & Wirth versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 300,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 9.000,00 (€ 10.242,87) mehr als 30-mal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Phyllida Barlow mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit untitled: hiddenupturnedhouse beobachtet, die im Dezember letzten Jahres für USD 30.240,00 (€ 28.266,97) versteigert wurde.
