This artwork by Pierre de Clausade achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in February 2001. In the BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES auction, the work A river landscape, Normandy sold for GBP 1,527.50 (€ 2,393.23) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Pierre de Clausade; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Les Peupliers, Loire sold at auction in January 2008 with the realized price of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,691.90).
