In October 2017 Sothebys in Paris held the auction Modernités : de Rodin à Soulages, which included the work Peinture 65 X 81, 2 Août 1975 by Pierre Soulages. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 871,500.00 74% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pierre Soulages achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Peinture 195 x 130 cm, 4 août 1961 in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 20,141,700.00 (€ 17,845,042.97).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 74 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2017 führte Sothebys in Paris die Auktion Modernités : de Rodin à Soulages durch, in der auch die Arbeit Peinture 65 X 81, 2 Août 1975 von Pierre Soulages zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 871.500,00 und damit 74% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pierre Soulages erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Peinture 195 x 130 cm, 4 août 1961 im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 20.141.700,00 (€ 17.845.042,97).
