In September 2005 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction PICTURES WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS, which included the work The beach seen from the dunes by Piet Schipperus. The price achieved of EUR 4,560.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The beach seen from the dunes is the most expensive artwork by Piet Schipperus that we have observed at auctions so far.
