Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A piebald horse tied to a hitching post and two dogs before an inn by Pieter Cornelisz. Verbeeck was auctioned at Christies in New York in June 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 9,375.00 (€ 8,347.43). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pieter Cornelisz. Verbeeck - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Orientalischer Reiter in einer Grotte mit Schimmel. 1642., which sold at auction in October 2021 for CHF 29,580.00 (€ 27,938.66).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A piebald horse tied to a hitching post and two dogs before an inn von Pieter Cornelisz. Verbeeck im Juni 2020 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 9.375,00 (€ 8.347,43) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Pieter Cornelisz. Verbeeck mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Orientalischer Reiter in einer Grotte mit Schimmel. 1642. beobachtet, die im Oktober 2021 für CHF 29.580,00 (€ 27.938,66) versteigert wurde.
