The work Self-Portrait with Saskia by Rembrandt van Rijn was sold in the The Sam Josefowitz Collection: Graphic Masterpieces by Rembrandt van Rijn auction at Christies in London in December this year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 107,100.00 (€ 123,375.09), 53% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rembrandt van Rijn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a lady, aged 62, perhaps Aeltje Pietersdr. Uylenburgh, wife of Johannes Cornelisz. Sylvius, half-length, in black costume and a cap and collar in December 2000 with an auction result of GBP 19,803,750.00 (€ 31,547,196.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 53 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Self-Portrait with Saskia von Rembrandt van Rijn wurde im Dezember diesen Jahres in der Auktion The Sam Josefowitz Collection: Graphic Masterpieces by Rembrandt van Rijn bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 107.100,00 (€ 123.375,09) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Rembrandt van Rijn erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of a lady, aged 62, perhaps Aeltje Pietersdr. Uylenburgh, wife of Johannes Cornelisz. Sylvius, half-length, in black costume and a cap and collar im Dezember 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 19.803.750,00 (€ 31.547.196,55).
