Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%

This artwork by Rembrandt van Rijn achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December this year. In the The Sam Josefowitz Collection: Graphic Masterpieces by Rembrandt van Rijn auction, the work The Ship of Fortune sold for GBP 30,240.00 (€ 34,835.32) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rembrandt van Rijn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a lady, aged 62, perhaps Aeltje Pietersdr. Uylenburgh, wife of Johannes Cornelisz. Sylvius, half-length, in black costume and a cap and collar in December 2000 with an auction result of GBP 19,803,750.00 (€ 31,547,196.55).

Uylenburgh, wife of Johannes Cornelisz. Sylvius, half-length, in black costume and a cap and collar im Dezember 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 19.803.750,00 (€ 31.547.196,55).
