Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work A Derbyshire Imperial Yeomanry Officer, Review Order by Richard Simkin was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 375.00 (€ 476.44). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Simkin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 10th Prince of Wales's Own Royal Hussars; and three others in January 2001 with an auction result of USD 5,287.50 (€ 5,680.60).
