Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work The "Southampton" with British and Dutch ships in Table Bay, Cape of Good Hope by Robert Dodd for GBP 37,500.00 (€ 43,497.31). This price was achieved in the auction Topographical Pictures including Selections from the Kelton Collection at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Dodd - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Greenland Whale Fishery, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 88,800.00 (€ 131,870.78).
