Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Robert Johnson could be acquired at Christies in Melbourne in May 2001 for an unexpectedly low price. In the AUSTRALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS auction, the work Umbiella Creek, Capostra Valley (near Moss Vale, New South Wales) changed hands for AUD 4,700.00 (€ 2,817.22) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of AUD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Johnson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian Bridge Street, which sold at auction in August 2007 for AUD 14,400.00 (€ 8,610.86).
