Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Man-Of-War Of The Red Squadron, Departing The 'Tail Of The Bank' Anchorage On The Clyde by Robert Salmon was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 32,450.00 (€ 40,431.27) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Robert Salmon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Royal Naval Vessels Off Pembroke Dock, Milford Haven in June 2009 with an auction result of USD 242,500.00 (€ 172,967.19).
