Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Seah Kim Joo could be acquired at Bonhams in Hong Kong in May last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Southeast Asian Modern & Contemporary Art auction, the work Villagers changed hands for HKD 16,575.00 (€ 1,967.81) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of HKD 50,000.00 – 80,000.00. Admittedly, works by Seah Kim Joo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Boat Quay (Cityscape) in October 2017 with an auction result of HKD 112,500.00 (€ 12,381.95).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Seah Kim Joo konnte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Hong Kong für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Southeast Asian Modern & Contemporary Art wechselte die Arbeit Villagers für HKD 16.575,00 (€ 1.967,81) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 50.000,00 – 80.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Seah Kim Joo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Boat Quay (Cityscape) im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 112.500,00 (€ 12.381,95).
