Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Women At The Well by Senaka Senanayake was sold in the Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art auction at Sothebys in New York in March 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,625.00 (€ 8,624.19) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Senaka Senanayake have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (Acrobats) in March 2019 with an auction result of USD 43,750.00 (€ 38,965.09).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Women At The Well von Senaka Senanayake wurde im März 2018 in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 10.625,00 (€ 8.624,19) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Senaka Senanayake auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (Acrobats) im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 38.965,09).
