Artwork auctioned at nine times the upper estimate price
When the work Calligraphy by Sha Menghai was auctioned at China Guardian in October 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 20,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than nine times as high at HKD 180,000.00 (€ 20,022.51). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Sha Menghai; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy sold at auction in April 2015 with the realized price of HKD 330,400.00 (€ 38,184.55).
Kunstwerk zum Neunfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy von Sha Menghai im Oktober 2021 bei China Guardian versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 20.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 180.000,00 (€ 20.022,51) mehr als neunmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Sha Menghai; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Calligraphy im April 2015 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 330.400,00 (€ 38.184,55).
