In November last year Bonhams in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art, which included the work Untitled (Puja Scene) by Shanti Panchal. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,912.50 (€ 2,216.15), 59% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shanti Panchal - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Setting Sun, which sold at auction in October 2004 for GBP 5,975.00 (€ 8,599.67).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 59 % übertroffen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Puja Scene) von Shanti Panchal zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.912,50 (€ 2.216,15) und damit 59% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Shanti Panchal mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Setting Sun beobachtet, die im Oktober 2004 für GBP 5.975,00 (€ 8.599,67) versteigert wurde.
