Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Florence Forest Gate, 2019 by Simon English was auctioned at Christies in London in April 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,200.00 – 2,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,725.44). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Simon English - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Box 1, which sold at auction in February 2001 for GBP 2,937.50 (€ 4,602.36).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Florence Forest Gate, 2019 von Simon English im April 2021 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.200,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.725,44) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Simon English mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Box 1 beobachtet, die im Februar 2001 für GBP 2.937,50 (€ 4.602,36) versteigert wurde.
