This artwork by Stanley Spencer achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2018. In the Modern British Art Evening Sale auction, the work Portrait of Kate Morrell sold for GBP 536,750.00 (€ 606,618.97) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Stanley Spencer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christ Preaching At Cookham Regatta: Conversation Between Punts in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 6,018,500.00 (€ 7,242,459.25).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Stanley Spencer erzielte im Juni 2018 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern British Art Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit Portrait of Kate Morrell für GBP 536.750,00 (€ 606.618,97) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 300.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Stanley Spencer erzielen.
