Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Burung Betet (Parrot) by Soetopo was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in October 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 45,000.00 – 65,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 41,825.00 (€ 4,636.81). Other works by Soetopo have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in October 2002 by the work Penjual burung I (Bird seller I) at HKD 65,725.00 (€ 8,527.42).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Burung Betet (Parrot) von Soetopo im Oktober 2003 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 45.000,00 – 65.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 41.825,00 (€ 4.636,81) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Soetopo wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Oktober 2002 die Arbeit Penjual burung I (Bird seller I) mit HKD 65.725,00 (€ 8.527,42).
