Despite a disappointment, a good price for Soetopo
When the work Penjual burung I (Bird seller I) by Soetopo was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in October 2002, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 70,000.00 – 90,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 65,725.00 (€ 8,527.42). Despite this disappointing result, Penjual burung I (Bird seller I) is the most expensive artwork by Soetopo that we have observed at auction so far.
Trotz Enttäuschung ein guter Preis für Soetopo
Als die Arbeit Penjual burung I (Bird seller I) von Soetopo im Oktober 2002 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 70.000,00 – 90.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 65.725,00 (€ 8.527,42) den Besitzer. Trotz dieses enttäuschenden Ergebnisses ist Penjual burung I (Bird seller I) das teuerste Kunstwerk von Soetopo, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
