Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Banks of the Nile by Theyre Lee-Elliott was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 176.25 (€ 257.43). Admittedly, works by Theyre Lee-Elliott have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work London To Paris, Imperial Airways in May 2013 with an auction result of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,461.45).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Banks of the Nile von Theyre Lee-Elliott im Oktober 2003 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200,00 – 300,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 176,25 (€ 257,43) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Theyre Lee-Elliott auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit London To Paris, Imperial Airways im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.461,45).
