Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work China Bound by Thomas Birch was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in October this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,816.00 (€ 2,664.65). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Birch achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Battery And Harbor, New York in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 482,500.00 (€ 346,648.47).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit China Bound von Thomas Birch im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.816,00 (€ 2.664,65) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Birch erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Battery And Harbor, New York im Dezember 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 482.500,00 (€ 346.648,47).
