Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2016 Christies in London held the auction Topographical Pictures, which included the work The Waterfall at Papanasam, Tinnevelly District (Tamil Nadu) by Thomas Daniell. The price achieved of GBP 100,000.00 (€ 116,916.22) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Admittedly, works by Thomas Daniell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The entrance of an excavated Hindu cave temple at Mahabalipuram on the Coromandel Coast in January this year with an auction result of USD 1,071,000.00 (€ 986,369.50).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Topographical Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Waterfall at Papanasam, Tinnevelly District (Tamil Nadu) von Thomas Daniell zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 100.000,00 (€ 116.916,22) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Daniell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The entrance of an excavated Hindu cave temple at Mahabalipuram on the Coromandel Coast im Januar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.071.000,00 (€ 986.369,50).
