Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Outside the village inn; and Haymaking by Thomas Smythe was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 9,560.00 (€ 13,723.52). Other works by Thomas Smythe have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in June 2004 by the work The dining chair sledge at GBP 10,994.00 (€ 16,362.37).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Outside the village inn; and Haymaking von Thomas Smythe im November 2003 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 9.560,00 (€ 13.723,52) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Thomas Smythe wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Juni 2004 die Arbeit The dining chair sledge mit GBP 10.994,00 (€ 16.362,37).
