In May 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction The Irish Sale, which included the work On The Beach, Dover by Tom Carr. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 11,250.00 (€ 14,310.49), 41% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Tom Carr - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Market Scene, which sold at auction in May 2006 for GBP 20,400.00 (€ 29,777.36).

Im Mai 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion The Irish Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit On The Beach, Dover von Tom Carr zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 14.310,49) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Tom Carr mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Market Scene beobachtet, die im Mai 2006 für GBP 20.400,00 (€ 29.777,36) versteigert wurde.
