Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Scene in the Style of Hishikawa Moronobu (Hishikawa Moronobu zu) by Totoya Hokkei was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,260.00 (€ 1,466.04) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Totoya Hokkei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tiger Looking At The Moon in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 350,000.00 (€ 302,323.57).
